Overview
Kayaking on Lake Arenal
Swap the trails for the water and discover the Arenal landscape from a completely different perspective. The Lake Arenal kayaking tour invites you to paddle across the lake as the mountains, forest and, weather permitting, the silhouette of Arenal Volcano become part of the scenery.
After receiving basic navigation and safety instructions, the kayaking excursion begins. The relaxed pace lets you enjoy the surroundings without rushing, explore areas near the shoreline and see how the forest meets one of Costa Rica’s most important bodies of water.
Accompanied by a guide, you’ll learn more about Lake Arenal, its natural surroundings and the history of a region deeply connected to the volcano. During the paddle, there is also a chance to spot waterfowl and other species that inhabit the ecosystems around the lake.
The excursion includes time to rest, enjoy the scenery and take photos. On clear days, the presence of Arenal Volcano makes this one of the most special perspectives from which to admire this natural icon of Costa Rica.
More than just a water activity, kayaking offers a peaceful and active way to experience Arenal: the lake beneath your paddle, the forest all around and the volcano dominating the horizon.
