Overview

Caño Island Snorkeling Tour

Discover one of Costa Rica’s most fascinating marine destinations with the Caño Island snorkeling tour, an experience that combines adventure, marine biodiversity, and natural scenery in the South Pacific.

The excursion begins with an approximately 45-minute boat ride from the Águila de Osa dock. During the trip, keep your eyes on the ocean: depending on the season and the conditions that day, you may have the chance to spot humpback whales and dolphins in their natural habitat.

Upon arrival at the Caño Island Biological Reserve, you’ll enjoy two snorkeling sessions to explore its waters and observe tropical fish, as well as coral and rock formations. Between sessions, you’ll have free time to relax, swim, sunbathe, or walk along the beach.

Accompanied by a professional bilingual guide and with snorkeling equipment included, you’ll enjoy an ideal experience for discovering Costa Rica’s underwater riches.

Policies

Caño Island Snorkeling Tour Policies

1. Reservations
We recommend booking at least 72 hours in advance. Availability is subject to confirmation, as access to Caño Island is limited to a set number of visitors per day.

2. Schedule and punctuality
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to get ready before boarding.

3. Cancellations and changes
If you let us know 48 hours in advance, you can reschedule at no cost. After that time, or if you do not show up, a fee may apply.

4. Clothing and sun protection
We recommend bringing a swimsuit, an extra shirt, a hat or cap, sunglasses, water shoes or sandals, and coral-friendly sunscreen.

5. Snorkeling safety
Follow the guide’s instructions and the safety guidelines for water activities at all times. Check with the provider in advance about participation requirements and the availability of life jackets.

6. Participation of minors
The recommended minimum age for this activity is 6 years old. Minors must be supervised by a responsible adult.

7. Protecting the natural environment
Respect marine life and the rules of the Caño Island Biological Reserve. Do not touch or remove corals, animals, or other natural elements. Use a reusable bottle, as single-use disposable bottles are not allowed on the island.

8. Pets and alcohol consumption
Check with the provider about applicable restrictions before booking.

9. Photography and video
You can bring a camera to capture the scenery and underwater experience, provided its use does not interfere with the guide’s instructions or disturb marine life.
